building the apparatus and testing. Captions and titles are provided for
each picture. |
Prototype 1 The first sensor paired along with a piezospeaker.
|
|
|
Prototype 2 The second prototype with the better sensor and the same speaker. |
Prototype 3 The final prototype design with the text-to-speech chip and PING ))) sensor. |

|
MacGyver It! We had no piezospeaker that could fit on the breadboard, so we had to use large speakers. Unfortunately, the speaker connectors did not fit on the breadboard, so we had to connect it using... aluminum foil. |

EMIC Text-to-Speech The voice chip was a text-to-speech device that would tell the user how far he or she was from the obstruction. The green light indicates that it is saying something. "Luke, I am your father," it says. |
Testing... testing... Our test of the range of the sensor. |

The Science Fair This was our poster for the fair. It included graphs of distance versus reaction time, sonar range, graphs of frequencies, pictures, design cycle, a picture of what our final product might look like, our notebook, abstract, and more! |
Hitachi Sumo Wrestler Hitachi judges came around and gave these little guys to teams they would have given awards to (Hitachi only gave awards to solo projects, not team projects). |
